Hello…welcome to our website. Our names are Ian and Claire Banks and we are a small show and breeder kennel based in West Yorkshire. We have 3 daughters, Libbie, Pheanie and Xanthie.

When I said to Ian I wanted a dog as a pet 9 years ago we initially looked at the Husky breed. Ian then changed his mind and said if we get a dog we are getting an Akita. We started researching the breed and got our first pet Skyrah, who is now nearly 9.

Skyrah was the link to finding our passion of Dog Showing. Purchasing Skyrah lead us to meeting Eddie and Nicola Duffield of Meiho Akitas. After owning Skyrah for around 4 months we attended a local show where Nicola was judging the Akitas and she asked us to come along. I decided I wanted to get into showing and after speaking with Nicola on numerous occasions we found out she had a litter that were born on May 22nd 2012. It was from this litter we got our first show dog Kaymo. We attended ring craft sessions with him and I was 2 weeks away from our first Champ show and I turned to Ian and said “I cant do it” This left 2 weeks for Ian to learn how to handle and take Kaymo into the ring. At that show Ian qualified Kaymo for his very first Crufts. Couple of years later Ian had a very bad time with his mental health and Nicola took over the showing of Kayno and helped us to the wins that he had achieved both in the UK and France.

In 2015 we got another 2 Akitas Madge and Drake from Meiho and we thought that was our Kennel complete. That was until we brought home our beautiful Elphie from top kennel Redwitch Akitas.

Ian has also started judging the breed at open show levels.
